Zoe and I went on a hike at Black Rock Forest on Friday, which was more than I had planned. She's had some left front limping going on (now on glucosamine and NSAIDs to help her aging joints), so wasn't going to do anything too challenging. But then I thought I'd explore a forest road, which seemed easier on her (and me) than a regular trail. I thought we'd turn around after a bit and then just walk along the stream, but somehow we ended up going to the top of the mountain and got some lovely views. It was a treat to hike and get some nice views with the newly clear air. We hiked down the regular trail and probably went about 4 miles or so. Happily, aside from being a bit tired, Zoe left front seemed fine after the hike. Phew!

And now Sue and I are back at the lake for the first time (for me) this year. Usually we open camp on Memorial day weekend, but I was still in NC and Sue had a wedding that weekend. It feels wonderful to be back here even though the weather isn't fully cooperating. Actually, today is raining and I love a good excuse to stay inside (by the fire today!) and read, maybe nap, and catch up on other indoor things, like writing a blog post. Yesterday was a perfect day for a hike and so Sue, Jet, Zoe, and I hiked Castle Rock (my favorite!). Zoe is doing great today - didn't see any limping this morning, even though I forgot to give her the carprofen last night (2x/day). Maybe she needed to get back to hiking to get her joints moving better.
Now it's time to watch the sunset from in front of the camp!
